The VISA Group traces its beginnings to 1994, when Mr Vishambhar
Saran decided it was time to forgo a comfortable position
of Director (Raw Materials) at Tata Steel, India’s largest
private sector steel company, to pursue his own vision. Equipped
with a Rs 10 lakh capital, 25 years of industry experience
and guts of steel, he has created a Rs 1,600 crore conglomerate
in the minerals and metals industry.
For the first few years, VISA’s focus was on the international
trade of industrial raw materials and products. This business
has expanded through timely product and geographic expansions,
allowing VISA to emerge as a single-point end-to-end raw material
source. VISA’s international trading operations serve
an important role between the localised availability of critical
raw material at one end and the globalised requirement of
customised grades at the other.

At VISA, we recognise that in an industry vulnerable to sharp
swings in demand and realisations, it is imperative to build
a business model that is sustainable and an effective hedge
against cyclicality. The VISA Group has embarked on such initiatives
by extending its erstwhile international trading focus across
an extended value chain in the iron and steel industry.
As a principal component of this strategy, the Group embarked
on the exercise to establish a 0.5 million tonne per annum
integrated steel and stainless steel plant at Kalinganagar
Industrial Complex in Orissa, India. This will comprise Mini
Blast Furnaces, Coke Ovens, Ferro Chrome Furnaces, DRI Kilns,
Captive Power Plants and Steel Melt Shops. The Group is also
in the initial stages of establishing similar plants in Chattisgarh
and Jharkhand. [Read

The truth is ultimately in the numbers. A 42 percent CAGR
sales growth is testimony to the VISA Group’s ability
and prudence in managing its top line. A healthy bottom line
is ensured through operational efficiency and fiscal discipline.
VISA’s corporate structure is designed to make the
best of opportunities both in India and abroad. VISA International,
the holding company has two arms:
VISA Steel Ltd (formerly known as VISA Industries Ltd.) is
the torchbearer in India, with a focus on manufacturing and
logistics activities. It is registered in Bhubaneswar and
