Mr. Saran has experience of almost 41 years in the iron & steel industry, with over 25 years with Tata Steel in the areas of development & operations of mines, mineral beneficiation plants and ferro alloy plants, port operations and international trading of raw materials for the iron & steel industry. A mining engineer from BHU, he rose to the level of Director (Raw Materials) in Tata Steel before taking over as Chairman of the VISA Group in 1994. In a short span of time, he built the VISA Group into a minerals and metals conglomerate with a strong global presence in Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Singapore, South Africa and Switzerland. He is the Honorary Consul of Bulgaria for Eastern India.

Mrs. Agarwal laid the foundation of the VISA Group during the mid-eighties. She guides the organisation along its growth chart while upholding its values and spirit. A Bachelor of Arts from BHU, she takes active part in philanthropic activities and contributes to the community through the VISA Trust where she is a trustee. She is currently the Managing Director of VISA International Limited and VISA Infrastructure Limited.

Mr. Agarwal has over 13 years experience in the iron & steel industry with hands on experience of setting up greenfield projects, having successfully established the plants at Golagaon and Kalinganagar. He is responsible for overall management of operations and projects and is the driving force behind many of the Company’s strategy, finance, marketing and human resource initiatives. He holds a Bachelors degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and a Masters degree in Economics for Development from Oxford University. He is a Committee Member of the CII - Eastern Region Council and Indian Chamber of Commerce.

 

Mr. Agarwal has 13 years of industry experience in international trade and shipping business. As the Managing Director of VISA Power Limited since 2008, Mr. Agarwal is responsible for the overall implementation of the Thermal Power Projects of the Company. He is also responsible for developing and nurturing the global coal and coke business of the VISA Group and has been instrumental in securing investments in the Group’s coal mining ventures in Indonesia. He holds a Masters Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Trinity College, Cambridge University.

Mr. Agarwal is the Managing Director of VISA Resources Pte Ltd., Singapore and is responsible for developing the minerals, metals and shipping business of the VISA Group and has been instrumental in the Group’s Joint Venture with Baosteel. Mr. Agarwal has worked as Senior Consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, London, a global strategy consulting firm for 2 years till 2004, before joining the VISA Group. He holds a Masters degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Trinity College, Cambridge University.

Mr. Verma is a career banker with a multilevel and wide ranging experience of over 51 years, encompassing an understanding of the commercial, developmental and investment banking as well as asset management and capital market operations. A Master of Arts and Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers, Mr. Verma held senior-most and critical positions in India’s financial system and regulatory regimes like Chairman, State Bank of India, IDBI Bank and Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

Mr. Basu has an enriched experience of 38 years serving in various Ministries and Departments of both Central and State Government and has pioneered several initiatives for reforms & restructuring of the Indian Electricity sector, including formulation of the Electricity Act, 2003. He has made significant contribution in formulating new policy initiatives in the industry and minerals sectors at the national and state levels. A Bachelor of Arts (First Class First – Economics Honours), Mr. Basu joined the Indian Administrative Service in 1965 and has held several prestigious positions such as Secretary - Ministry of Steel, Secretary – Ministry of Power and Chairman Central Electricity Regulatory Commission from 2000-2007. Mr. Basu is currently on the Boards of various reputed companies as an Independent Director.

Mr. Bagchi brings to the Board his deep knowledge of the administrative services and the State of Orissa, especially in the steel & mining sector. He has held prestigious positions of authority like Additional Secretary, Commerce – Government of India; Secretary, Ministry of Small Scale Industries – Government of India; Chief Secretary – Government of Orissa, etc. A Master of Arts in Economics and an M. Phil in Public Administration, Mr. Bagchi was also the Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Orissa Lift Irrigation Corporation and Managing Director of Orissa Mining Development Corporation Limited.

Mr. Kapoor has over 42 years of rich experience in the minerals and metals industry. He is the former Chairman of MMTC Limited and Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd. and had been on the Board of many renowned Public Sector Enterprises. A B.Sc. in Metallurgical Engineering from BHU and MBA from University of Leeds, UK, he is a recipient of the Best Chief Executive Gold Award – Rajiv Ratna National Award 2005 and Top CEO of the year Award 2000 – Indian Institute of Marketing & Management, amongst others.

Mr. Khaitan is a legal luminary and has extensive experience in the fields of commercial & corporate laws, tax laws, arbitration, foreign collaborations, mergers & acquisitions and corporate restructuring. Mr. Khaitan is a Bachelor of Commerce, an LLB and an Attorney-at-Law (Bells Chamber, Gold Medalist). He is the Senior Partner of Khaitan & Co., a leading Indian law firm and also member of the Bar Council of India, the Bar Council of West Bengal and the Indian Council of Arbitration.

Mr. Narain brings with him his expertise in strategic management transport systems, especially the Railways, in the areas of planning, marketing, monitoring and control of operations & commercial activities and development of transport infrastructure. He holds a Masters degree in Science (Mathematics) and had been the Member, (Traffic) Railway Board for 4 years till February 2001. He is a member of several committees set up by the Government of India and professional societies.

Mr. Roy has an enriched professional experience of 38 years, including 33 years with NTPC Limited as Director-Operations. He has wide exposure in product design, plant engineering and O & M processes with special achievements in independent design & analysis of large coal fired boilers, successful engineering of major segment of NTPC fleet, institutionalization of product design / analysis capability & multiple new initiatives, development of boiler analysis / simulation software "flame track", complete business process automation at NTPC Engineering Division, development of technology vision & establishment of technology platform. He has also presented various technical papers in India & abroad and conducted various training programmes on the subject. He has served as a Director on the Board of M/s. West Bengal Power Development Corporation Limited.

Mr. Shroff has an enriched experience of 30 years serving in areas of infrastructure, projects & project finance, privatization & divestment, banking & finance, capital markets and commercial contracts. Mr. Shroff is the Managing Partner of Amarchand & Mangaldas and Suresh A. Shroff & Co., India’s leading law firm. He is also on the Board of IDFC Limited, Ashok Leyland Limited, Jubilant Life Sciences Limited, Hindustan Media Ventures Limited and Jindal Power Limited and DE Shaw India Advisory Services Private Limited.

A Mechanical Engineer from Jadavpur University, 1969 and a Graduate of the Operations Research Society of India, Mr. Bhattacharyya, currently overseeing VISA’s coke and coal marketing operations, enjoys a strong industry understanding, enhanced by his experience as the Chief of Commercial, Exide and Nicco. He has also worked as Head of the Materials Department in Ispat International’s Corporate Office in Jakarta.

Mr. Kumar has experience of over four decades in Shipping and Port Logistics. He has held key positions in the industry such as Managing Director and CEO of Essar Shipping Limited and the Chief Executive of APJ Lines.

 

Mr. Modi is a Mechanical Engineer from National Institute of Technology, a Post Graduate Diploma holder in Industrial Engineering and an MBA from the Institute of Business Management, Madras. He has several decades of rich experience in the field of Design, Project Management and Operation. He has worked at Bokaro Steel Plant, Bhilai Steel Plant, MECON and was former Managing Director of Neelachal Ispat Nigam Ltd., Kalinganagar.

Mr. Saxena has vast experience of various plants and machinery connected with Steel, Mining and Ports. An Honours Engineering Graduate from IIT-ISM, Dhanbad, he has worked for about 36 years in various companies of TATA Group and was MD of TM International Logistics Ltd. (a subsidiary of Tata Steel Ltd). He has been the Managing Director of Jessop & Co. Limited.

Mr. Trivedi is a Mechanical Engineer from the Government Engineering College, Bilaspur, Ravi Shankar University, Raipur. He is an astute and result oriented professional having more than 39 years of experience in power plant erection, commissioning and O&M with the corporate sectors like SAIL, BHEL, NTPC and Adani Power. He had headed NTPC eastern and western region and is responsible for commissioning of the 500 MW unit at Talcher Kaniha, which was short-listed by IPMA amongst the best 5 projects in the world. In VISA Power he is currently responsible for implementing the Company’s Power Projects in eastern and western India.
